Northernmost Norwegian ALS service (regional tertiary). Institution: Universitetssykehuset Nord-Norge (UNN). Only neurology department in the two northernmost counties — serves as secondary and tertiary referral hospital for Northern Norway World's northernmost neurosurgical department (established 1967) Ambulatory outreach model: given geographic scale, UNN maintains ambulatory neurology service at 4 local hospitals + 2 rural medical centers, with ~1,500 neurological consultations per year; travel distances 200–800 km by car, bus, boat, or air Air transport (helicopter/plane) essential for neurological emergencies; neurological cases = ~1/3 of all UNN emergency air transports Clinical Trial Unit (CTU) with a research ward supporting clinical trials, collaborating with UiT Faculty of Health Sciences and the Tromsø Biobank
